Redeemer Church Covenant

As members of Redeemer Church, we affirm this covenant with one another by God’s grace, for our good, and ultimately for God’s glory. Having been redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ through faith and baptized as Christians in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we covenant together to glorify God by making disciples of all nations. In agreeing to this covenant we are publicly declaring our desire to partner in the gospel with this faith family.

  1. We will submit to the authority of the Scriptures as the final word on all matters of life and doctrine. (2 Tim. 3:14-17)
  2. We will work and pray for the unity of the Holy Spirit in the bond of peace with one another. (Eph. 4:1-3)
  3. We will, with God’s help, live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly desires as new creations in Christ. (Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Thess. 4:1; Titus 2:12)
  4. We will be devoted to one another in brotherly love. With humility and gentleness, we will patiently bear with each other, forgive, encourage, build one another up, and admonish one another when necessary. (Luke 17:3; Col. 3:13; 1 Thess. 5:11; 1 Pet. 1:22)
  5. To regularly participate in the life of our faith family we will faithfully assemble together in corporate worship. We will encourage one another towards love and good deeds. We will meet with one another consistently, pray for one another regularly, and serve one another selflessly while sharing each other’s joys and bearing each other’s burdens. (Col. 4:2; Heb. 10:23-25; Rom. 12:15)
  6. We will use our words to build up one another and glorify God rather than speaking lies, deceit, slander, or gossip. (Eph. 4:29-31)
  7. We will seek the spiritual health of this church by supporting and defending biblical preaching, a biblical administration of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and when necessary, the biblical exercise of church discipline. (Matt. 18:15-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 5:9-13, 11:26; 2 Tim. 4:2)
  8. We will bring up our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord and seek their salvation by walking in a manner worthy of the Gospel. (Deut. 6:4-9; Eph. 6:4; 1 Pet. 3:1)
  9. We will proclaim the gospel in our homes, neighborhoods, and to the ends of the earth in whatever way the Lord enables us. (Matt. 28:18-20; 2 Cor. 5:16-21)
  10. We will contribute joyfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the spread of the Gospel to all nations. (Matt. 28:19; Luke 12:33; 2 Cor 9:7)
  11. We will submit to the leadership of the pastor-elders that God has given us as a gift to lead, feed, know, and protect our faith family. We will also affirm deacons as leading servants in the church. (Eph. 4:11-12; 1 Tim. 3:1-10)
  12. If we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church as soon as possible where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. (Heb. 10:23-25)

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen. (2 Cor. 13:14) May God continue His work here among and through us as we covenant together to serve Christ here at Redeemer.
